My trick with getting the outline is to start with a large image, do the outline, and then shrink the image to icon size.
The one I had the idea for was the "beauty" one, but while I was looking through my photos for images of flowers, I came across the leaf one, with these leaves that were so very spring-green, and I knew I had to do something with that one too.
