Seeing as we only got two entrants this time, I'd kind of like to know what I'm doing wrong. Challenges too hard, too easy, too boring? Wrong format? Should there be no breaks in challenge-doing? I expect some people will think that monthly challenges are too infrequent, but I'm a busy person and it's all I can manage. Yeah, I suppose every three weeks would be possible, but it's easier to remember "once a month" rather than "every three weeks".

Also I'd really like you to suggest challenges that you'd like to do. No, I haven't run out of ideas, but if my ideas are stupid ideas, then I'd rather get better ones.

Hello - I tried to make a sparkly but it was RUBBISH and I was ashamed. I have only just figured out how to brighten the images - I am still at toddler stage. But I doooooo want to play.

It's not that you're doing something wrong; it's the nature of voluntary activities, a sort of natural attrition. People's interest will wane and fluctuate, and time will get eaten up by other things.

What's really needed is a little promotion, to get an inflow of new members, but I know that's not your thing. And I couldn't respond to your recent request for help there, because I can't take on anything more right now.

But if there's a problem, it's not with you; and your ideas are excellent. I'm finding them inspiring and plan to experiment with them eventually, even though I haven't been able to keep up with the challenges. And I'm quite pleased with some of the icons I've made in those challenges I have been able to do.

As someone at "toddler stage", are there particular things you'd like to learn? I want to make the challenges a mix of easy and hard, so if there are easy things you want to practice on, suggest away.

Oh lord - everything! I'd like to learn how to put a texture in the background - see my A/V icon? I erased the background but couldn't put a picture behind it. Putting two pictures together? These may be be a bit hard still. It's mainly the brightening/sharpening I'd like to know more about at the mo - my screencaps are grainy and washed out, and I see some icons that are taken from the same source but look like magazine glossies. Just LOVELY.

Thanks! I'm not sure how I could make brightening/sharpening into a challenge, but changing a background sounds like a good idea!

I really did intend to, especially when I saw your reminder, but I had a lot of other things on this week and completely forgot. Sorry.

I like the challenges, but I don't always get inspired for each one. I'd love to see them continue though. When you put the next one up, I'll promote it on my LJ. You could put a post on b7icons though; I don't know any other icon comms.

I think you are doing an excellent job. Your challenges are always interesting and some gorgeous icons have been produced for this community. I like seeing what the icon-makers come up with.

Participation is going to fluctuate. The holidays are coming up and everyone is going to be busy with Xmas exchanges. Or just plain busy. My only suggestion is to try and promote the community-- which I've done in my LJ a couple of times. I honestly don't know where else to promote the community.
