Thoughts about Voting for next time

As you may have noticed, it was practically impossible to give second-places this time due to there being so many ties (all with 2 votes each). I'm wondering if, next time, we could go for a sort of compromise voting, not so simple as the very simple voting we had this time, but less complicated than the "preference" system I tried to test earlier.
What I propose is to have a multi-choice vote, where everyone gets three votes, rather than one. That way it should be easier to have clear 1st and 2nd (and maybe even 3rd) places, since there's still likely to be many more entries than people voting for them.
It shouldn't be difficult to do a multi-choice poll, but it would require people to use an honour system, since with multi-choice, there's no limit to the number of choices one can pick, but people would have to restrain themselves to three.
What do y'all think? Would it work?
